Ginger Pear Cream of Wheat

Ginger Pear Cream of Wheat

I finally did it. I seriously cleaned out the pantry. I threw away so many boxes of crap and it was glorious. Finding six boxes of lasagna noodles was the last straw!

Growing up, I never really had cream of wheat, I have always been more of an oatmeal person. I have more recently re-discovered how great cream of wheat is. And it was totally fortuitous that this month’s Cooking Light had a yummy recipe for it! There is a whole section on shortcut ideas and this ginger pear cream of wheat caught my eye. It just sounded warm and comforting and I’ve been craving pears.

It couldn’t be easier. Just take a packet of instant cream of wheat, take some fresh sliced pears with some brown sugar and cinnamon, toasted walnuts, and a crushed gingersnap cookie and an ordinary and plain bowl of cream of wheat becomes something so much better!

To grab the recipe, check it out on My Cooking Spot!

  1. Oh gosh, I seriously need to clean out my pantry and organize it. It’s a huge disaster at the moment… and so hard to find anything! I don’t know if I’ve ever had cream of wheat … I love the sound of this with the pear and crushed cookie!

  2. I really need to clean out my pantry!! This looks so flavorful!

  3. Yum! I haven’t had cream of wheat in forever! It’s a nice change-up from oatmeal. Don’t you love the feeling of cleaning up the pantry. Every time I do, it seems people bring in more junk. lol! I feel like I”m always cleaning it up!

  4. I cleaned out my pantry a couple of weeks ago. I found lots of stuff I need to use up soon….tossed a few things and (sigh.. hate wasting money) and reorganized. I loved seeing and knowing where everything is…. so much easier to too cook. Of course my grocery stores are all having “stocking up” sales and now I have hoarded loads of canned beans and soup. I can’t help myself.

I think I have to give cream of wheat a try again… this looks great.
