Apple Margaritas in a glass with a cinnamon sugar rim and apples

There’s really nothing better than enjoying a nice refreshing margarita on a Friday night. I love them all throughout the year, but I always crave all things apple and pumpkin this time of the year and you don’t see a lot of fall margaritas out there.

Enter these perfectly festive Apple Margaritas! They taste like Fall, but are also still refreshing and best of all, only require five simple ingredients!

For the margaritas themselves, you just need some silver tequila, apple cider and ginger beer! You can use plain apple cider, but spiced apple ciders are also really yummy if you prefer the added flavors! The ginger beer also lends itself to fall flavors and adds a nice little fizz to the drink. If you cannot find ginger beer (check the soda aisle in your grocery store), ginger ale can be substituted.

I also like to add a little splash of fresh squeezed lemon juice as it helps cuts some of the sweetness from the cider and ginger beer, but it’s not required! You can also add some apple liqueurs of your choice if you want a boozier drink, such as apple schnapps or apple flavored vodkas (though I would avoid sour apple flavors).

Of course, a cinnamon sugar rim really finishes the drink off nicely. Also not required, but how could you not want it?! Garnish the margaritas with some apple slices and/or cinnamon sticks and you’ve got yourself the perfect autumn margarita!

Apple Margaritas - The perfect cocktail for Fall! Made with tequila, apple cider, ginger beer, and a cinnamon sugar rim!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 ounces tequila
  • 6 ounces apple cider
  • ginger beer
  • splash of fresh lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, stir together the cinnamon and sugar. Use a damp paper towel and run it along the rim of each glass (short tumbler/old fashioned size). Dip the rims into the cinnamon sugar mixture and set aside.
  2. Fill each glass with ice (I like to use crushed ice). In a taller glass or cocktail shaker, combine the tequila and apple cider. Divide into each glass. Top each glass with ginger beer and stir gently. Garnish with apple slices and/or cinnamon sticks.

Notes

If desired, you can also add a shot of your preferred apple liqueurs such as apple schnapps.
